Sherwin Williams has introduced their new 2014 Color of the Year! It’s a dusky shade of purple called Exclusive Plum. This color is a favorite of mine to use as the backdrop for my designs. It’s subdued enough to work well as a neutral yet lively enough to give the walls character. Sherwin Williams recommends pairing it with a magenta or chartreuse to energize your room. (They had me at chartreuse). I especially like it when paired with black and white accents. I can’t wait to explore this color in more detail. So, keep your eye out for new paint palettes inspired by ‘Exclusive Plum’!
Today’s the day! Pantone has introduced their new 2014 Color of the Year! It’s a lively shade of purple called Radiant Orchid. Pantone describes it as “An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones...” going on to say “…It is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with it’s beguiling charm.” I couldn’t agree more. I especially like it when paired with a charcoal gray and white accents. Of course, I couldn’t resist putting together a quick ‘mood’ board for this radiant shade. The wheels are already turning with new paint palette ideas inspired by ‘Radiant Orchid’ so, keep your eye out!
I am totally crushing on these throws. The colors, the textures, the patterns…Oh my! These beautiful gems are made from repurposed saris from India, making them each one of a kind. This can make it tricky to shop for one as no two are alike. But, it also makes the shopping much more exciting, like a scavenger hunt. I have to warn you though, it can be addicting. If you’re willing to take the chance and dive in to this fun design trend, here are some good places to start your search…
Are you looking for a way to add a little Emerald Green to your life? Since Pantone announced it as the Color of the Year for 2013, I have been looking to do just that. But, I have to admit that I have some serious ‘commitment issues’ when it comes to new design trends. Like many of you, I’m dealing with a pretty tight, sometimes non-existant, design budget. The solution? Throw pillows! They’re relatively inexpensive and easy to change out when you’re ready to try something new. Give this great collection a try. I just love the geometric patterns, so fun! Oh, and I just had to include this awesome scarf. Not only would it make a great wardrobe accent but wouldn’t it look great draped over a chair? Just beautiful.
I absolutely love Pantone’s color of the year for 2013. Emerald Green! It’s such a rich, classy color that reminds me of sophisticated interiors of times gone by. But, how do you take this classic color and translate it into something fresh and contemporary? That question had me stumped for a while. So, I decided to scour my art sources and put together a collection of emerald colored prints with a modern edge.
I couldn’t help but include a vintage piece from the Art Deco era also. I mean, the Art Deco style is just too cool to forget.
