Nature Inspired {Winter Fox}

I have a confession to make. I’m a Discovery Channel junkie. I’ve become a regular fixture on my sofa lately watching their North America series. My favorite part of the series was watching a fox hunting in the snow. Have you ever watched a fox hunting in the snow? They have a really cool technique. The fox will jump high in the air and dive, head first, into the snow. As I was watching the program, I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful the fox’s coat looked against the snow white landscape. Wouldn’t that color/texture combination make a great interior design scheme? So, I set about putting this ‘Concept Board’ together for you. My first goal: finding a photograph that captured the hunting fox in action. Mission accomplished. Steve Hinch did just that…and what a great shot! Then, I came across an interior space in New York that created the look I envisioned perfectly. It’s a beautiful home on 5th Street designed by The Brooklyn Home Company. Just the kind of place I would design for myself. You know, when my tornado of destruction son heads off to college. This post couldn’t have come together any better! Of course, I had to include a collection of ‘key pieces’ to help you get this look for yourself.

The living space of the 5th Street home. I just love this look, doggie and all…

I’m a huge fan of these wood tables from The Phillips Collection…

Interior ‘barn doors’ are a passion of mine. Especially ones with as much character as this one…

The aluminum detail on the back of this chair is awesome!

Love the built in bed…

Light brown cowhide is a great material to ‘mimic’ the fox’s coat…

With a minimal color scheme like this one, you want to be sure to include lots of texture in your design to keep the space interesting. All the textures in this room are just beautiful…

This light brown brindle cowhide rug is the perfect piece for adding texture to this scheme…

The contrast between the rustic, wood table and the sleek, modern chairs is fantastic…
