Dark interiors can create such a sophisticated atmosphere in a space. I especially like dark spaces with a ‘pop’ of white and warm toned accents like in this dining room design. The photographer did an excellent job of capturing the beautiful textures in the room. So, what does it take to re-create this moody look in your own home? Let’s break the design elements down. Get things started with a dark, not quite black, wood flooring. Layer this with a dark brownish-gray shag rug under the table. Find a black dining table with an extra glossy finish to really bring out the shine. Pair this with black wishbone dining chairs and a warm taupe colored woven seat. I had some trouble finding the perfect seat color so I went with a warm taupe throw pillow instead. For the walls, a dark bronze color will reinforce the sophisticated nature of the room. Go with white on the ceiling for a classy contrast to the walls. Now for the ‘pop’ of accents we were talking about. Create a feature art wall with black and white watercolor pieces and just a few gold oval shaped pieces for variety. Add a sculptural touch with a few rustic pots and vases on the table. Top off the room with a modern, black pendant light above the dining table. And, your ‘Black Beauty’ look is complete. Enjoy!
