There is something about old, weathered doors that just captures my heart. I’ll often wonder about their history and the things they’ve seen. How did that scratch get there? Who’s fingerprints have gradually faded the paint around the latch? Actually, I find a lot of my inspiration from photographs of doors. I came across this wonderful turquoise door image on Flickr and just had to explore the possibilities I could find from it. I was lucky to find out where this particular door is located by the photographer, Miquel. It’s from a little town called Galliners in Catalonia. Here’s what I have in mind for creating an interior design from this door’s rustic color palette…
The base of the look is a light blonde maple wood flooring. Pair this with a pale gray wall paint with a dark brown reclaimed wood paneled accent wall. This will bring out some of the rustic, bronze colors of the photograph. Layer the floor with a overdyed turquoise rug to anchor the furniture arrangement. Choose a weathered, gray wood dining table with lots of character and match this up with a dark bronze metal dining chair. Finish off the look with turquoise, blonde yellow, and bronze accent pieces like throw pillows, pendant lights and dinnerware.
