I would describe this color trend as a peacock blue or possibly a dark teal blue. It’s a lovely blue-green mix that adds spunk to any color palette. I often see this color used in bohemian style designs but it works equally as well in more traditional spaces. It’s especially well suited to mid-century modern designs. Sherwin Williams calls this color Marea Baja. They forecast this color to be popular in the coming year, adding it to their 2017 Colormix. Of course, I had to find you some yummy eye candy for this soothing shade of blue. Here’s what I found…

This interior design is like a daydream. I love the mix of colors and materials and the ‘pop’ of Marea Baja is just perfect!

Now, here’s a bedroom design with a bit of a bohemian flavor. The peacock blue accent wall is the perfect backdrop to showcase the details of the light toned bed.

Mid-century modern anyone? This velvet upholstered mid-century piece paired with ‘Marea Baja’ is awesome!

I found this little beauty on Etsy. All the intricate details of the dragonfly show up perfectly in a dark teal against a white paper background.

‘Marea Baja’ is an excellent color choice for console tables if you want to add a touch of class without being bland.

Using this blue-green hue as an accent in white rooms is stunning!

To create a bolder statement, paint all the walls of the room in ‘Marea Baja’. The result is a soothing den-like feel. Bright colors and whites are perfect accents for this look.

Do you want to freshen up an old armoire or hutch? Try painting it ‘Marea Baja’ and adding some gold door hardware. Nice!

Or, go bold with a brightly colored room with bold color accents, including a peacock blue side table. Again, gold accents look great with this look.

This color is often associated with peacocks. So, why not introduce a large-scale peacock patterned upholstered piece? Love!
