I’ve always been drawn to minimalist spaces. Modern styles are always sure to catch my eye. But, I’m also totally in love with Bohemian looks. The layering of fabrics in different colors, textures and patterns is just so cozy and fun.
Now, some Bohemian spaces can just get too cluttered and ‘all over the place’ for my taste. But, when a designer balances the perfect amount of minimalist with Bohemian, well that’s when I’m in heaven. Take this white living room by Hannah of Loom & Kiln for instance. It’s the perfect example of what I’m talking about with it’s modern Boho style and beautiful color palette. It has the perfect amount of structure blended with a casual layering of decor.
I would love to recreate this look in my own living room and I thought you might too. So, let’s take a closer look at what it takes to make this kind of magic happen. For starters, you’re going to want white painted walls with a natural french oak flooring. Then, a combination of a tan leather sofa with simple side table and an amazing safari chair are used for furniture. Seriously, isn’t that chair the most awesome thing you’ve ever seen? I totally want one.
Next, you’ll want to add in the decor starting with a pink and orange toned vintage rug and a collection of mudcloth and kilim pillows. Finalize the look by adorning the walls with a round mirror, gold toned fiber art and a collection of art prints that you love. Of course, there’s always room for adding your own touches by selecting tribal decor pieces that fit your personality best. I made a few tweaks to the look for the mood board below and you can always do the same with your design.
These are the pieces I used to create the Modern Boho mood board above…
1. Boujaad Rug | 2. French Oak Flooring | 3. Faded Indigo Mudcloth | 4. Safari Chair
It’s probably no surprise that I love vintage rugs with as much as I talk about them. But, it can be a bit of a challenge to plan a design around them because they sell out so quickly! Since they’re one-of-a-kind pieces, they can be gone before you’ve had a chance to decide if it’s the right one for you. This can be a problem with other one-of-a-kind pieces too, like when searching for a kilim or mudcloth pillow.
In fact, several of the pieces I put on this mood board were sold out before I could get this post up. It only took me 3 days to put the post together. They were gone in 3 days! How’s a designer supposed to keep up with that?!!! I went ahead and kept the links to the pieces that are sold out anyway. If you really have your heart set on it, you can always contact the seller to see if they can get you something similar.

The color palette for this look is a striking mix of dark indigo, gold, tan, warm sand, hot pink, light indigo and black with white as the backdrop. The palette is my favorite part of this look!
