We looked at the color palette for this beach house interior last week and I’m still daydreaming about kicking back in this beautiful living room. I mean, as far as coastal living rooms go, this one is the perfect mix of casual and classy. I found this beautiful home on Pencil Shavings Studio when looking for design ideas using Pantone Warm Sand. Rachel got to spend her vacation in this gorgeous home with her family and I have to say, I’m totally jealous!
Of course, my designer brain got straight to work thinking up ways to recreate this look. I really loved the color palette but, I wanted to add a few modern elements to the room. What can I say, I’m a modern girl. Here’s what I have in mind. White shiplap walls are a must and I definitely want to keep the light tan wood ceiling panels. Then, a textured rug and casual sofa start filling in the details. For my favorite part, sky blue accents are added with a light blue chair combo and matching throw pillows. Really, this color couldn’t be any more ‘beachy’ if it tried.
The rest of the details in this design are a sun bleached wood coffee table, metal seashells, woven outdoor chairs, a mosaic side table and silver details with an accent pillow and serving tray. I went modern with the coffee table and sky blue chair option but, the rest of the look stays pretty true to the original. As long as you stick with the color scheme, you can add your own style to this and still get a similar look. So, don’t be afraid to experiment.
These are the pieces I used to create the mood board above…
1. Sky Blue Pillows | 2. Slipcovered Sofa | 3. French Oak Planks
I love this entire mix of beach decor but if I had to pick a favorite, I would go with the driftwood coffee table. I love it! Which is your favorite piece?
1. Silver Diamond Pillow | 2. Sky Blue Pillows | 3. Silver Cameo Shell | 4. Slipcovered Sofa | 5. Whitewash Coffee Table | 6. Rockwell Carina Chair | 7. Hamburg Dining Chair | 8. Mosaic Side Table | 9. French Oak Planks | 10. Chunky Jute Rug | 11. Croco Serving Tray | 12. Paint Palette
This is a common color combination for coastal color schemes. It mimics the colors you see at the beach quite well really. The white walls with accents in light blue, ivory, warm brown, warm sand, light gray and dark bronze is a breath of fresh air.
Are you a fan of coastal living rooms like this one? Is the tan and blue combo something you would like for your own beach home? Then, you’re going to love my ‘Sky Blue and Light Tan’ paint color palette in my Etsy shop. You can check it out here.
