I’m a huge fan of repurposing old objects into interior design pieces. Travel trunks, for example, make great coffee tables. The designer of this living room went a step further and painted a travel trunk in a custom, mint blue color. I love the light, airy effect this color gives the trunk and how it coordinates perfectly with the room’s color palette. Complete this look with a warm gray wall paint and pale sand carpet. For the furniture, go with a cream colors sofa and, of course, the mint blue trunk. Accessorize the space with driftwood, woven rattan and metal pail planters. Add softness to the look with teal, cream, charcoal gray and white throws and a subtle stripe for a little pattern.
Coastal style interiors have always been among some of my favorites. In fact, a good friend of mine has recently moved to a gorgeous beachfront property on the Virginia coast so I must remember to pass some of these ideas on to her! Homes on the coast are amazing, but they can sometimes be expensive to insure. In fact, the last time I met up with my friend she told me that she was determined to stop overpaying for her home insurance so she had been comparing some insurance quotes online. I hope she was successful as there is no greater feeling than making a saving! Anyway, I cannot wait to see her new home in person sometime soon.
For now though, here are some pieces to get the ‘Coastal Coziness’ look…
1.Rattan Hanging Basket | 2. Driftwood – Teal Throw | 3. Cream Sofa – White Pillow – Gray Pillow – Striped Pillow | 4. White Trunk (painted Sherwin Williams, Icelandic) – Gray Throw – Metal Pail – Succulent | 5. Textured Wool Rug
