Black walls are really having a moment and I have to say I’m a huge fan! It’s a great way to add a bold accent to a room and create a moody vibe in the space. Even better, you could add some pattern and texture with a black wallpaper. I’ve always been a huge fan of black interiors, but throw in a fun floral pattern or grasscloth texture… Now you’re speaking my language!
There are so many ways you can introduce this design element to your home and you don’t even have to confine this edgy color to just the walls. I’ve seen it used on ceilings in some very creative ways. Are you brave enough for black ceilings in your home? You can also use smaller quantities of black wallpaper to line shelves or cabinet drawers. And, a small scrap of it could be framed to create an eye-popping piece of wall art.
These are the Items I Included in the Mood Board Above:

Now, I know an entirely black room might be too much for some of you. No worries! You can always go with a black accent wall instead of having all walls of the room be black. This look goes great in modern farmhouse spaces but, could also go great in many different interiors styles.
Once you choose where you want to use black wallpaper in your home, then all you have to do is pick the style you want to use. Here are some ideas for you with a roundup of the most awesome patterns I could find.
1. Black Floral Wallpaper
The combination of a bold, black background with a delicate floral print is such a gorgeous look. It can instantly add a touch of sophistication and class to any room while still having a modern feel. There are so many different patterns out there for you to choose from. Here are some of my personal favorites.
2. Black and White Floral Wallpaper
Wallpaper is such a great way to introduce stunning patterns into your room. It’s amazing how much character this can add to the space. A great way to pull this off is with a black floral print on a white background. This combo is perfect when you want to keep the room light and bright but, still want to work in some black accents. I just love this look!
3. Black and White Striped Wallpaper
Now, this one is a timeless classic and it works in so many different interior design styles. Nautical, classical and modern… even Bohemian interiors can pull off this striking pattern. You can install the stripes horizontally or vertically for different looks. And, there are many different stripe widths to choose from. A little goes a long way with this audacious print, I recommend sticking with a small accent wall if you go with stripes.
4. Black Brick Wallpaper
I love this one too! Ideally, I would prefer a real brick wall over a wallpaper. There’s just nothing like the depth and texture of the real thing. But, if you don’t want to commit to a real brick install, give brick wallpaper a try. It’s the next best thing and looks great in black!
5. Black Wood Look Wallpaper
It’s hard not to fall in love with this one. Black wood is so classy and modern. I love it, I love it, I love it! Again, I prefer the real deal over a wood look wallpaper. But, wallpaper is a great way to experiment without the time and expense. So, have fun with it! Try a wood grain look, a chevron pattern or the ever-popular black shiplap. They’re all great choices.
6. Black Grasscloth Wallpaper
So, what if a striking pattern isn’t your cup of tea? You just want the black color without the in-your-face pattern. Well, here’s where grasscloth wallpaper can really do the trick. It creates a lovely texture on the wall that offers understated elegance to a room and it goes with any design style.
7. Black Stone and Tile Look Wallpaper
If you like geometric wallpaper patterns, this is a great way to work them into your interior design. You can combine the eye-catching geometry with the gorgeous textures of stone. Throw in the dashing black color and this wallpaper is sure to be a showstopper.
I could go on for days about black and white wallpaper. It’s been a lot of fun sharing this gorgeous design element with you. I hope you’ve enjoyed my product roundup and maybe even found a pattern that is perfect for your next project. Happy Designing!
