I just love the clean lines of a white modern bathroom. But, the problem with a white bathroom is it can come across as very cold and clinical. That’s why it’s so important to add a pop of an accent color in these spaces to soften things up. This design by Veneer Designs is the perfect example of this.
There are a lot of smooth surfaces with all the white marble tile and the large frame less mirror in the room (there’s probably Frameless Shower Doors here as well). Add to that the cool tones of the dove gray in the tile and the palette is looking a bit too cold. But, the designer saved the day by cleverly adding a vintage Oushak rug in a golden yellow color with light peach and ochre details. There’s even a touch of chalky white which highlights the texture and pattern in the piece.
I think if the designer hadn’t have managed this, then I would have had to redo the whole bathroom. I might even have had a go at fixing the tiles myself (or at least getting my partner to help me). I know that it’s not that simple and we would have to make sure that we had all the right equipment that we would need. But I know that I could easily go with tile saw for $300 or less and then I’d be able to fix my tiles exactly how I want them, and I’d be able to pick the colors that I would be happy with! But luckily I didn’t have to worry about redoing the whole bathroom myself, as I think my designer did a wonderful job!
Some additional accent pieces are also added to the room to give this bath a cozy, lived in look. If it wasn’t for a friend of mine recommending I looked into a site like https://toiletreviewer.com/10-inch-rough-in-toilets/, I wouldn’t have thought that something as simple as the everyday toilet would make such a massive difference in the overall aesthetic of a bathroom. Working around the essentials makes it a lot easier to figure out what you want the bathroom to look like, especially when it comes to the colour theme. Woven baskets and a free standing towel rack are used to display the fluffy striped towels. A globe wall sconce and louvered cabinet design, which matches the shutters, complete the details in this look. Shutters are a brilliant feature for this bathroom as they allow natural light in, whilst keeping the room private. Be sure to visit a site like shuttercraft-norwich.co.uk for a wide range of shutters you can have fitted for your bathroom!
These are the items I used to create the Modern Bathroom mood board above…
I was so excited when I found one of the vintage rugs that’s almost identical to the one in the Veneer Designs project. Score! It’s a one-of-a-kind piece, so if you want one, you better move fast!
The paint palette of chalky white, light peach, golden yellow, ochre and dove gray is simply gorgeous. This would make a lovely palette to fuel your own custom design ideas.
