Let’s all be honest. We don’t typically give our guest bedroom the attention it deserves. To tell you the truth, mine looks more like a storage room that an inviting place to welcome my guests. I could definitely do better and I plan to do just that.
So, today I want to explore a light and airy design that would put a smile on my face every time I stepped inside my guest bedroom. Shoot, I might even decide to move in there instead of the master suite. This look is inspired by a pink and gold color palette that we looked at earlier this week. If you’re looking for a pretty look to welcome guests, this one is sure to do the trick.
My favorite part of this look is the rattan bed with white bedding. The black and white pillows with floral print are also a key feature of the design. These pieces look beautiful against the light grey and white walls and I love the subtle pattern on the accent wall. I found a similar look with a damask wallpaper from CB2. Score! Throw in a white table lamp with one of your favorite wicker lamp shades and the main pieces of the room are covered.
These are the pieces I used to create the mood board above…
1. Red Grapefruit from your kitchen | 2. Tulips in Glass Vase from Houzz | 3.Lipton Decorative Serving Tray with Polished Metal Handles by Kate and Laurel | 4. Damask White and Light Grey Wallpaper by CB2 | 5. Avalon Daybed from Serena & Lily | 6. Indivar Floral Bedding Sham in Black and White from Houzz
This is the room design that inspired today’s mood board. I just love this look!
What I love most about this room is the neutral grey and white walls. They make a pretty backdrop to highlight any accent colors you want to use in your styling. You would be surprised with the difference small details will make.
The white serving tray with gold handles holding a cut pink grapefruit, for example. It adds such an inviting touch to the space. I would want to keep a cut grapefruit in the room all the time for the pop of color. Would that be weird?
You could also add pink tulips in clear glass vases for a different pop of color on the nightstand. Small gold decor pieces and a taupe rug are also good choices for this palette. But, you could really go any direction you want with the accent colors as long as you keep the wall color neutral.

The color palette for this design is a pretty mix of blush pink, light taupe and peachy-pink with shades of gold and black. All of these are displayed beautifully against the light grey and white walls.
